Main features of digital audio
 
1. High signal-to-noise ratio
 
The digital audio recording format is binary code, and only "0" or "1" needs to be judged during playback. Therefore, the noise of the recording medium has little effect on the signal-to-noise ratio of the reproduced signal. The analog audio recording form is a continuous sound signal, which will be affected by such as tape noise during the recording and playback process. It must be superimposed on the sound signal to make the sound quality worse. Although noise reduction measures have been taken in the analog audio, it cannot be fundamentally affected. 2. Low distortion
 
In the process of analog audio recording and playback, the non-linearity of the magnetic head will introduce distortion. For this reason, measures such as AC bias recording must be taken, but the distortion still exists. In digital audio, the magnetic head only works in two states of magnetic saturation or non-magnetic, indicating 1 or 0, and there is no linear requirement for the magnetic head.
 
3. Good repeatability
 
The sound quality of digital audio equipment will not deteriorate after multiple copying and playback. In traditional analog cassette tape recording, the noise recorded on the tape increases every time it is dubbed, so that the signal-to-noise ratio is reduced by about 3 dB each time it is dubbed. Degrade.
 
4. Small shaking rate
 
Digital audio playback system due to the function of the time base correction circuit, the rotation system, the instability of the drive system will not cause jitter, so there is no need for a precision mechanical system like in analog recording.
 
5. Strong adaptability
 
Digital audio records are binary codes, and all kinds of processing can be carried out as numerical calculations without changing the hardware. It can be operated only by software, which is convenient for microcomputer control and has strong adaptability.
 
6. Easy to integrate
 
Due to digitization, it is convenient to use very large scale integrated circuits, and the whole machine is easy to debug, has stable performance, high reliability, is convenient for mass production, and can reduce costs.
